Cyber Attacks on Yahoo
Yahoo has recently suffered a data security breach and it brought to light at Todd and Cue how many larger businesses may not take into account the importance of cyber liability insurance.
Yahoo has recently had data stolen from around more than one billion user accounts. This breach can date back to around August 2013.
The chief information security officer Bob Lord said in a statement “We believe an unauthorised third party, in August 2013, stole data associated with more than one billion user accounts. We have not been able to identify the intrusion associated with this theft. We believer this incident is likely distinct from the incident we disclosed on September 22nd 2016”.
There was another breach in September 2014 which affected 500 million user accounts.
The BBC quoted cyber-security expert Troy Hunt as saying “This would be far and away the largest data breach we’ve ever seen”.
Should I invest in cyber liability insurance for my business?
In recent years, there has been increased demand from businesses for cyber liability insurance as they are understanding more and more the risk of cyber attacks.
