Green Cards and the implications of foreign travel
Following recent Government updates, there appears an increasing likelihood that the BREXIT transition period may conclude without any trade deal being agreed. Should this occur then UK insured vehicles and drivers will be required to travel with a green card when travelling in the EU effective from the 1st January 2021.
Green cards will also be required even if the vehicle leaves the UK before the 1st January but is returning post 1st January.
What is a Green Card?
A green card provides proof that the vehicle being driven is insured to at least the minimum level of insurance cover required in the country of travel. Failure to present a green card upon request may result in the vehicle being denied access to the country.
What steps do I need to take in preparation?
If you are aware that you or a colleague will be driving to the EU in the near future then please contact us to discuss. We have been liaising with all insurer partners to ensure the process for provision of green cards is in place and we will facilitate this for you on your behalf.
