More than just private medical insurance for companies
Why invest in the health and wellbeing of your employees? 25% of SME employers list recruiting and retaining the right staff as the biggest obstacle to success. With 77% of staff believing that the employer is responsible for looking after their health, providing a health and wellbeing programme has never been more important in terms of attracting quality people. In 2007, 172 million working days were lost as a result of sickness! This cost the UK economy £13.2 billion with 43% of employees having 6-10 days off work because of their health. Recent research has shown that investment in a happier and healthier workforce lowers levels of absenteeism.

More than just private medical insurance for the individual
Private Medical Insurance is all about choice, your choice of where and when you are treated, and what kind of plan you take out.

The NHS
Most treatment on the NHS is free (except prescription charges). And you can get treatment for an emergency or an accident at an NHS hospital. The NHS also has facilities for the treatment of rare and serious conditions.

Private healthcare
Private healthcare is medical treatment paid for by you - rather than by the NHS. Private medical insurance covers the costs of private medical treatment of what are known as acute conditions (a disease, illness or injury that is likely to respond to treatment in the near future).

The advantages of private healthcare
As our lifestyles and our expectations change, many of us are turning to private healthcare to avoid the long waiting times associated with some NHS treatments. Although the NHS is making progress in reducing waiting list times, at the end of December 2007, 67,066 patients had been waiting over three months for an admission to an NHS hospital.* As a private patient you can often choose when treatment will take place, the specialist who treats you and the hospital. You will usually have the privacy of your own room complete with TV and other home comforts.

No medical examination required
You don't have to take a medical examination to take out private healthcare. Once you join you'll then be covered for eligible treatment of all new medical conditions that arise after you join. And depending on your circumstances, we may even be able to offer you cover for treatment of certain medical conditions that you had prior to joining. However, we may not be able to offer a quotation or membership in all cases due to your medical circumstances.
